EU’s CBAM is the main topic of this blog. The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism of the European Union. It is a carbon tariff at customs for goods imported into the customs area of the European Union and the further associated countries of the European Economic Area. This carbon tariff will apply to all imports starting January 1st, 2026. In the meantime, during the so-called CBAM transition phase (2023-2025), some reporting rules already exist. The first importing period for importers ended January 31st, 2024. In the first phase, CBAM reporting is limited to these sectors: Cement, Iron & Steel, Aluminium, Fertilisers, Electricity and Hydrogen.

Target Group

This blog targets the interests, duties, and rights of international, small, and medium-sized e-merchants not residing in an EU Country and thus affected by CBAM. In a larger view, this blog support international, cross-border e-commerce.
